Heat pump price lists on WebHVAC.com include every model each brand makes along with complete pricing and performance information. The energy efficiency ratings for the heat pump – SEER for cooling and HSPF for heating – are also included along with whether the unit is modulating, 2-stage or single-stage. The goal is to give you the information you need to decide if the heat pump is worth the price. It’s a quick and easy way to narrow your choices from the dozens of heat pump series that are available.
Heat Pump Performance
Modulating heat pumps produce heating and cooling between about 40% and 100% capacity based on the demands of the moment. The result is precisely balanced temperatures, quiet operation, the best dehumidification during cooling and the most thorough air filtration. Two-stage models run at low capacity – about 65% — most of the time. The longer, quieter cycles heat and cool more gently than a single-stage heat pump, which will run at full capacity all the time and possibly produce noticeable temperature fluctuations between cycles.
As you would guess, modulating heat pumps are the most expensive while single-stage models are the most affordable. Only a handful of brands make modulating models currently, but expect more to follow in the next few years.
