This overview of Rheem HVAC equipping will inform you about the split systems and package systems that are available. Split systems are produced by pairing Rheem components such as central air conditioners with gas furnaces.
Rheem is one of the most trusted names in the HVAC industry. Since its birth in the 1920s, the company has been an innovator in affordable, efficient heating and cooling products. Founded by brothers Richard and Donald Rheem, the company started in San Francisco and has grown to have a distribution network that covers the United States.
In 1959, Rheem bought Ruud to extend its reach to consumers. As you review Rheem and Ruud HVAC units here, you’ll see that the product lineups are nearly identical.

Rheem HVAC Series
Here’s an overview of the three series Rheem makes we offer HVAC reviews of most – if not all – of the individual units Rheem makes.
Rheem Prestige Series: This top of the line series is very efficient – all units are Energy Star rated. Modulating and two-stage furnaces and 2-stage heat pumps offer outstanding comfort. Most units have variable speed fans. This series competes with other top lines like Carrier Infinity, American Standard Platinum and Lennox Signature. These units come with a 10-year warranty on most parts. In fact, some of the warranties call for replacement of the entire unit if major parts fail. Rheem furnace heat exchangers typically have a lifetime limited warranty.
Rheem Classic Series: This is a good series with some two-stage models and variable-speed blowers in furnaces and air handlers. Most of the units are Energy Star qualified. Warranties on Classic Series equipment are good, though not outstanding. Most parts have 10-year warranties, while some come with a 5-year warranty.
Rheem Value Series: This series offers some Energy Star qualified units. Lower prices with decent quality is the combination you get with these systems that should run for 15+ years with normal maintenance.
