heilHeil HVAC company is a division of United Technologies which is a parent company of Carrier, Bryant, Tempstar, Arcoaire and several other HVAC companies. It was initially purchased by Inter City Gas in Toronto Canada from the Whirlpool Corporation with the Tempstar name replacing Whirlpool. In 1999, International Comfort Products was bought by United Technologies.

While Heil is a sister company of Carrier, it's product lineup is significantly different. On the other hand, Bryant and Carrier have almost exactly the same lineup. Heil's lineup is the same as that of Arcoaire and Tempstar.

Heil HVAC markets high efficiency residential and commercial gas furnaces, heat pumps and central air conditioners. Their two-stage Copeland Scroll compressor operates at a quieter stage only changing to a higher level as the temperature increases outdoors. There are also UV lights to help prevent the growth of microbes on the coils and a thermostat which is easily set to help maintain customized heating and cooling levels to save energy. To ensure healthy, breathable air, the Heil heating and cooling systems contain an air cleaner that filters out air pollutants so that individuals can breathe easier. It contains a deluxe sound blanket that reduces the sound levels.

Heil Residential HVAC Equipment

As noted, Heil makes a complete range of products to cover all of your heating, air conditioning, ventilation and air quality needs. These include

  • Gas furnaces
  • Oil furnaces
  • Air handlers
  • Central air conditioners
  • Heat pumps
  • Ductless mini split systems
  • Packaged systems
  • Thermostats and controls

The products aren't broken down into clearly defined series like you find with Carrier (Infinity, Performance, Comfort, Base), but you can make some distinctions. Here's an overview of the product lineup. You'll find individual reviews for many models in these series in our HVAC reviews.

Heil Observer HVAC models: The Observer technology is communicating technology that coordinates the performance of the components. The results are optimized efficiency and indoor comfort. These are the most efficient Heil products, and all are Energy Star rated. One gas furnace has a modulating gas valve. The others are two-stage heat. All have variable-speed fans that lead to better control of temperature, humidity and air flow.

Heil DXT+ HVAC models: A step down from the Observer line, Heil's high-efficiency models are Energy Star rated. Some offer two-stage heating and cooling. Furnaces have variable-speed or multi-speed blowers for enhanced climate control.

Heil DX and Standard Efficiency models: These are more affordable models that don't have the same high efficiency. They are suited to climates where heat and cold are not extreme. Most are single-stage units. They are also a good choice any time lower upfront costs trump long-term efficiency.

Reasons to Buy Heil HVAC Equipment

Heil makes outstanding equipment backed by very good warranties on its top models. For example, the Heil QuietComfort DXT+central air conditioner with Observer technology is backed by a 10-year No Hassle warranty. If the compressor or outdoor coil fails within the first 10 years, Heil will replace the entire AC. Similar warranties come with top heat pumps and furnaces.

Many consumers like Heil due to the lower price than you'll find with Carrier, Lennox, Trane and other leading brands, but there's very little drop-off in quality. Heil has a top 10 service record in the industry. Efficiencies are high and systems are equipped to produce comfortable indoor climate.

See our reviews for more details. They all contain HVAC prices, and they're a good way to compare models head to head. No matter which Heil system you choose — or one from a different brand — have it professionally installed by a qualified contractor with good experience. When you do, you'll get the best performance and durability over the years. It makes sense to have your system cleaned and checked every few years to keep it running efficiently and to catch minor problems before they become major issues.
