Ducane covers most of the bases, but its lineup is fairly limited. It makes a handful of each type of component, including those with fairly high efficiency, mid-efficiency models and standard efficiency units too.

The company has been in business for more than 50 years, though it’s never been one of the major manufacturers in the industry. Ducane is currently one of the Allied Air Enterprises companies along with fellow HVAC brands Armstrong and Air Ease. The product lineup remains distinct from Armstrong’s, and it is generally considered to not be quite on the same level as what Armstrong is currently manufacturing.

Ducane Residential HVAC Equipment

Ducane does not make heavy-duty commercial or industrial equipment, though the parent company does under the Allied Commercial brand. Here’s what you’ll find when you shop the Ducane brand:

  • Gas and oil furnaces
  • Central air conditioners
  • Heat pumps
  • Air handlers
  • Packaged units

There are no indoor air quality products currently in the lineup.

As you look at the products, Ducane markets them as their Best/Better/Good lines rather than giving them distinct names like the Carrier Infinity, Performance and Comfort lines.  You'll find more information about most of Ducane's specific models in our HVAC reviews.

Ducane Best Series: You’ll find medium-high efficiency levels that are Energy Star qualified. Two-stage heating and cooling is the norm. Furnaces have variable-speed blowers that increase comfort while offering better control of humidity and air flow. We have reviewed most, if not all, the current models in the “Best” category, and you can find Ducane HVAC reviews that include complete reports on features as well as prices.

Ducane Better Series: There’s a mix here of single-stage and two-stage heating and cooling. Most blowers are multispeed or single-speed. Roughly half of these products are Energy Star rated. We review most of them for your convenience.

Ducane Good Series: These models offer single-stage heating and air conditioning at attractive pricing. There are no Energy Star models in this range.

Reasons to Buy Ducane HVAC Equipment

While sister-company Armstrong is poised to compete in the upper tier of brands, Ducane is aimed at cost-conscious consumers who don’t expect 20+ years of service out of their equipment. Top models may get that with proper maintenance, but most “better” and “good” models likely won’t.

For this reason, Ducane’s lesser lines are attractive to builders, property owners and homeowners who expect to move in the next 10 or so years. If you don’t want to spend the money for the top brands in the industry, but want decent reliability, Ducane is worth a look.  However, it's important to have the equipment installed by a qualified contractor with proven expertise. When you do, you'll get the best durability and efficiency from your HVAC equipment.
