This overview of American Standard HVAC systems will inform you of your furnace, heat pump and AC options and more from one of the industry’s top brands.

American Standard is one of America’s oldest brands. The company was founded in the 1880s and made heating units for residential building. Most were boiler systems. The company has remained on the cutting edge of innovation for more than 130 years.

Today, American Standard and Trane are sister companies. As you view their respective product lines, you’ll see that they are very similar. Both offer outstanding warranties to go with high performance and some of the most energy-efficient units on the market.

American Standard HVAC Equipment

This brand makes one of the largest and most complete inventories of HVAC equipment you’ll find:

  • Gas and oil furnaces
  • Condensing units for central AC and heat pumps
  • Indoor and outdoor coils for AC and heat pump split systems
  • Air handlers
  • Packaged HVAC systems
  • Ductless systems
  • Air cleaning and purifying equipment
  • Energy recovery and heat recovery ventilators
  • Geothermal heat pump systems
  • Thermostats and controls

American Standard HVAC Series

American Standard split systems are divided into three separate lines.

American Standard Platinum Series: This is the top of the line series. It offers modulated and two-stage heating with variable-speed blowers. The efficiency of the furnaces, heat pumps and ACs is very high – all units are Energy Star qualified. Oil furnaces are offered in addition to gas models. Compare the Platinum Series with Lennox Signature, Trane XL, Carrier Infinity and Bryant Evolution.

American Standard Gold Series: Just a short step down, this series has many two-stage units, variable-speed blowers and Energy Star products.

American Standard Silver Series: The brand’s most affordable line is quite good. There are a few 2-stage models and Energy Star products. Warranties are not as long, but these systems should provide 12-15 years of reliable service.

American Standard Envirowise Geothermal Systems

American Standard makes a Platinum Series geothermal series that includes several different products. These are packaged units and split systems to find a wide range of applications. Systems that heat water in addition to supplying warm are available.

American Standard HVAC Reviews

You’ll find HVAC reviews for all American Standard non-geothermal split and packaged systems. We include HVAC prices along with the reviews – prices for the basic equipment only. Installation is extra. We encourage our readers to get multiple estimates form reliable companies in their area and to use a qualified contractor for the installation.

American Standard Warranty on Internet Purchased HVAC

American Standard's Warranty on Internet purchases, seems to be like most others… they simply do not address the issue on their website. This is becoming a BAD situation for homeowners who may find good bargains on American Standard equipment, but have no way to know if it will be covered by the manufacturer, should it break down.

Over the 2 years we sold HVAC equipment online, we DID sell a bit of American Standard equipment. That led to an immediate cease and desist letter from our local supply house, after contractor complained that their customer had already bought the equipment online. Of course, we stopped immediately, but still got no direct answer on whether Internet purchases were covered or not, and if so, were there conditions that had to be met.

We have tried several times to contact American Standard in reference to Internet purchased equipment and the warranty… updates will be posted on this page as they come in.

**Update: Received a Reply from the American Standard information request form in regard to warranty on Internet purchases. Shown below, is their reply.
