All 3 models are 80% models with single-stage performance. Payne is a low-cost brand owned by Carrier. Payne furnaces are a good choice when lower prices are the main factor in the decision-making process.

Payne PG8MVA Gas Furnace Price

This is the best of the bunch. It is an 80% efficient furnace with a two-stage gas valve. It also has a variable-speed blower motor which enhances indoor comfort by eliminating blasts of cold air at the beginning of a heating cycle. The blower motor is an ECM motor that uses less electricity. A low-NOx version of this furnace, known as the Payne PG8JVA, is available at a slightly higher cost.

Choosing the Right Payne Gas Furnace

These are all very affordable furnaces backed by a solid 10-year warranty. If you want the superior comfort of staged heating and a variable-speed blower, choose the top model. If a “bare bones” furnace is all you want, the PGM/J will suffice.
